diegobuono
Some days ago in a big photography shop I have been told that fuji Provia 100 F is discontinued in 220 format. Is it true or is the classic answer given by a seller that don't have a product you ask? Some of you have real info about this information i received? I'm particularly interested in the actual situation for this kind of film not foreseable future of film in general in 220 format.

diegobuono
Yes, I know is it still available in 220 format but this does not mean it is still in production.
john_shriver
Still in stock at B&H. Their volume is generally so high that discontinued products go out of stock fast. Sounds like the classic excuse for "not selling enough for us to stock it". One can understand photo stores not wanting to stock films that they wind up having expire on the shelf. In the old days they could eat a bit of that, but these days the competitive price pressure from Internet vendors doesn't give you the margin to do that. todd_phillips1
I hope it's not out of production. Provia is a great film and I shoot quite a bit of Provia 220. Sure beats changing film so often.
jose_chang
According to this articles, it look like it might happen. Look for June 28, 2006. http://www.photomarketing.com/dailynews/nl_weekly.asp just in case, as time goes by and the articles dissappear Fujifilm raises film prices by July 1, will discontinue some slide films Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, announced the detail of film price revision effective July 1. Raised prices will be applied to 35mm color print film and reversal film, color reversal roll film (120); color reversal sheet-film and color print film in cartridge (110), reports JPEA International PEN News Weekly. Prices of color reversal film will be raised 3-10 percent. The manufacturer no longer suggests list prices for color print film (single roll. The price revision is not applicable to One-Time-Use Cameras (OTUC). Selling price of 35mm print film have dropped significantly for a past few years, and trade watchers are curious to see if the price on the street will promptly reflect the price revision this time, says PEN News Weekly. "With the shrinking demand, slight price revision upward may not affect film sales. We had good mind to raise prices and are ready to revise our prices upward parallel to Fuji's price revision," comments a Tokyo dealer. In additional new, Fujifilm Imaging is streamlining the lineup of color transparency film. Following the introduction of Fujichrome PROVIA 400 film last April, the TRE BI 400 slide film will be discontinued around July this year. Also disappearing will be some multi-roll packs and long film of PROVIA 100F, VELVIA and VELVIA100F due to markedly decreased demand, reports PEN News Weekly.
