jodi_harvatin
Thank you M Barbu, for the informative post. I'm learning a lot just from reading what you've written...thank you! Being that this baby will be my 5th child (actually, 7th, if you include my stepkids who don't live with us), I agree that the 28mm lens would fit me best (possibility of lots of people in a photo!). Most of my photos don't have all 5 kids together, but I do want the option of taking a family photo with all of kids. So, maybe I'll get the 28mm now and then look for a 70-200 f2.8 used like Mark found on eBay. That way, I wouldn't have to switch lenses during the games, right? That one would fit my needs as far as sports pictures and possible low light (cloudy days?). Phew! Thank you for your help. I think I have it figured out....for now, anyways! m_barbu1
That would depend on how far away you are from the action, but it's likely that the 70-200 will give you a good range for the games. Some sample photos might help with determining that. Glad I could help.
pavel_olavich
If the extra $300 will prevent you from getting good glass, then no, going to the 30D is not worth it.
