j_robinson2
Have a nice and new 30D that I am using for everything, especially sports action. Am looking for a second body. Another of the same would be nice but having the 8 frames a second would be even better at times, like rodeos. I know the 1D is half the file size of the 30D but have heard (not seen any prints from it) that the prints made from it are excellent. What is reality in comparing final prints (same subject & final size to 11x14) from the two camreas? Having the speed and 1.3 magnification factor would really help in some areas. Can the older 1D give me 11x14 prints the same quality as the newer 30D, given its slightly larger sensor size and smaller final file size? dexonwerks
I had the same decision to make last month. I had an EOS 3 & 1V film camera and then switched to digital with a 20D. The problem was as great as the performance was on the 20D I missed the pro body feel especially the 45 focus points. I was close to buying a 30D when I decided to buy a 1D. There are some sticky issues to expect with the transition form new to old. Print size is definetly not a problem. I just made an 8.5X11 print from Photoshop CS2 and it looks great. Email me if you want more details on the "Sticky Issues."
