joseph_passante
Just purchased a used SB-21B macro flash. I'm using it on a Fuji S2 and a 60mm Nikkor macro lens. I have some questions since I do not have the manual. Is the flash TTL? What's the minimum focus distance? Some of my test shots are blown out. Thanks
todd peach seattle, washi
The flash is TTL on the film cameras it was designed for. Probably not on your S2, but I don't know enough about Fuji digitals to render an informed opinion. Assuming that TTL works (probably a bad assumption), minimum focus distance (range) for the flash would be a function of aperture. e.g., you could get in real close at f/16, but not at f/4. stephen t
Not TTL with the Fuji. Set the Fuji on manual exposure, shutter speed of your choice, SB21 on full or partial, and experiment with your aperture and reproduction ratios on your lens. It won't take long for you to estimate where to set your camera. Otherwise, the SB21 works great if you don't mind the "flat" lighting it produces. joseph_passante
The S2 is equivalent to an N80 film camera. It appears that the camera does not meter well when the lens is <5 inches from the subject. Otherwise TTL seems to work but I need more time to play with it to be sure.
