JohnMWright
I have a Hama lens hood that I've had for many years. It is the 55mm variety. Most of my lenses used 55mm filters. When I switched to digital, the macro lens I bought used a 58mm filter. OK, so the lens is telephoto and a step-down to 55mm is fine, but here is what is interesting... the Hama hood front element is 58mm, and I'd used a step-down so I could continue using the 55mm lens caps (I didn't use this hood on extreme wide angles to avoid vignetting). Well in the new system I just had to move the step-down from the front of the hood to the back (between the lens and hood). Voila, a good rubber lens hood and the 58mm lens cap fits on front. ;-)
