peter_houtmeyers
Hi. I recently purchased photoshop CS2. This version allows you to open raw-files without converting them into another file first. I use a Canon 30D, and i have allready installed the latest version of Camera Raw 3.4 plugin. I can open raw files directly in photoshop cs2, but i can not see a thumbnail when browsing my photo's. I can only see a raw cr2-icon. I do not photograph in jpeg+raw so i have no preview of the file i am opening.I have a few thousand photo's in different files and a thumbnail is a much easyer way of browsing to the correct photo.I tried adobe bridge, but no thumbnails are visible other than jpeg. Is there an extra plugin or setting to get raw-thumbnails.
Ed_Ingold
You need to install ACR exactly as specified by Adobe in their download section in order for Bridge and CS2 components to use it. Basically, it goes into the common directory of Program Files. I leave it up to you to get the details.
emwalker
Also handy (assuming you're a PC user) is the windows raw thumbnailer and viewer
steve_bingham
You have the Camera Raw.8bi file installed in the wrong folder. Get rid of the old one and replace it with the new one and put it in the \program files\Common Files\adobe\plug-ins\CS2\file formats - folder - as specified in the readme file that came with the file. wrfuerst
And sometimes it might proove useful to purge the thumbnailcache of bridge ... look at bridge - tools - cache :-) all the best, wolfgang...
peter_houtmeyers
Thanks all for the usefull info. I finally fixed it. I originally installed the plugin at program files----adobe---adobe ps cs2---plugins-----file formats. I took the wrong road aparently , now i followed program files----common files---adobe----plugins---cs2---file formats. The suggested raw viewer and thumbnailer from windows does not support eos 30D raw yet.
paul_taylor12
Firstly, install the latest plug-in for CS2 (ver 3.6)see previous messages on where to put them. If that doesn't give you pictures instead of icons try purging the cache in the Bridge. Open the Bridge, goto tools - cache - purge central cache then click OK. Thumbnail pictures will replace the icons. Cheers for now, all you Canon EOS 5D users!
