Battle of the 14mm Lenses?

Hi!

 

I recently have been considering adding a 14mm lens to my arsenal of

lenses. I was surprised to find little on comparing these two lenses

in the forums. I am looking for a really nice wide prime.

(prefferably f2.8)

 

Any experience's? good or bad?

I know this is sacreligious but I use a Nikon 14mm f2.8 AF D ED on a Canon EOS Elan IIe. I have determined that it is as good or better than my Canon FD 17mm f4, not to mention a heck of a lot wider. I also notice less distortion with the 14mm than the Nikon 20mm f3.5 UD that I have. I bought the 14mm used with a few marks on the front element and generally rough body with an inscription. I bought mine for less than you can get a used Tamron 14mm which apparently is the same lens. Here are a few tiny examples:<div></div>

I dont know where my brain was... I ment to say I wam considering between the sigma 14mm and nikon 14mm. And there is little comparing these two lenses.

compares it favourably with the Sigma.<br><br>One opinion isn't law of course, but its a

A couple of articles on Luminous Landscape that compare the Sigma to the Canon equivalent - I know it does not compare to the Nikon - but the images of the Sigma should be a start for your evaluation.

Found a good gently used one on Ebay for a good price so I decided to pay the little bit extra for the Nikon.

 

So far I am having a blast with this lens, on my D70 it finally brings be back wide, and on the F80/N80 its just wild!
