mischakoning
Hi forum,I have recently acquired a FED Micron (probably version 3) and now want to use it. There is some basic info on the 'net but not sure if I have understood how to operate the camera. When I set the film speed, the shutter speed seems to increase, maybe the light meter still works, but how to check if it's correct? Aparently the shutter speed is 1/30 when set in manual mode (set the film speed to "--" ?). So I'll need some slow film as the aperture only goes till 16. Does someone have a manual in English or German for me? thanks! Mischa
daniel_iggers
As I recall, the Fed Micron has a selenium meter and "program automatic" exposure. That is, if the meter is working, the camera will select an appropriate shutter and aperture combination for you - from f/2.8 and 1/30 in lower light, to f/11 or f/16 and 1/250 in bright light. There also should be a flash setting, which sets the shutter at a default slow speed (1/30? !/60?) while you set the aperture. Before you load any film, try this: Set the film speed indicator at 100. Dry fire out of doors in bright sun. Does the indicator in the vf show an appropriate combination, say f/11 and 1/250? Dry fire again in the shade. Is the combination letting in more light? Now turn the dial to the flash setting and look at the shutter as you fire it. Slow speed, right? If the exposure system seems to be responding as described above, the next step is to load and shoot. Good luck.
