axelg
Though my DSC P100 makes excellent pictures, I noticed all of them aregreyish, whether there is sun or not, whatever the kind of subject. Itis often easy to remove this grey thread with any picture processingsoftware, but I would like to know if this is specific to 1) my camera2) sony camera 3) digital cameras. Thanks for your answers. sue_anna_joe
I use a Sony DSC p-10 and a v3, at times I do have some of this greyish image with my p-10 but not very severe, all I do is just some level adjustments, sometimes auto level, sometimes manually in Photoshop. But with my v3 i've never had too much problems with that. Do you have pictures you posted that show these problems? I could compare with my own ones and see if its a major diff or not, that it could be your camera or not.
axelg
Here is an example; on the left is the automatically corrected picture. I guess the grey is more likely to appear on highly zoomed pictures (digital zoom) too.
arjen van de merwe
Digital zoom is a perfectly useless feature, it just crops the image. You may as well do that later in the computer. Your test photo looks like a dull overcast day. In bright sunlight your camera should catch detail in both highlight and shadow areas. Check a photo of a high contrast subject in hard light (for instance direct sunlight) Is the histogramme filled from left to right? Then your camera has a high contrast range, which is great. If not then your equipment may have a problem.
sue_anna_joe
Yes it just might be the zoom. I find that the zoom does create a greyish tone, not good. I try to avoid using it. And whenever I do, i'd definitely do some level adjustments in PS.
