lucid image
I have just converted my entire business to digital and plan on doing all enlargement orders up to capacity 13x19. My question is how everybody with a digital darkroom set-up inhouse doing their own enlargements handles the off sizes (8x10 and 11x14)for their clients. Do you print at 8x10 on 8.5x11 paper and trim, or do you print at 8x10 and leave border. Do you print 11x14 on 11x17 paper and trim or sell your sizes as 11x17. My concern is framing issues when the client gets the picture home. Does anyone know if frame manufacturers are producing inkjet paper friendly frames now or if paper manufacturers are thinking of producing frame friendly paper? Please help me find the answers. blueviews
I mostly print either on 8.5 x 11 paper and mat using 11x14 mats so you can put them in any frame, or print on 13 x 19 paper and mat for 16 x 20. I think if you are selling a bunch you should think about matting anyway, simpler to show and keep clean
bheiser
Reviving an old thread here:) ... When you print, say 8x10 on 8.5x11 paper, do you trim it before matting, or do you leave the border? And how about when printing 11x14 on 11x17 paper? Is the standard professional practice to leave the border, since it's not seen inside the mat, or trim it?
