love4leica
Mark......... nice portfolio. I like the images. I am on broadband, it still takes too long to open the images. life is too short !!!
john_shriver
You have to use a fully qualified URL (Uniform Resource Locator) in the href= field of the link. So href="http://www.mdgfineart.com". Otherise, it just considers it a path relative to the current page and directory. It doesn't care if that path starts www., that meant nothing to it. Computers and protocols are very literal. This also allows links to things other than web pages.

ian_everhov
I'm sure it looks just fine, no way of telling though as things just snailed along, and i have a 10MB/sek broadband connection. Maybe you need to get a new server, better software and/or another web-host. Something is very wrong with it i'd say.
mike_elek
Nice design and use of boxes and type. The dimensions of your larger photos could be ... well, larger. The host server is slow. It takes an incredibly long time to render each page plus images that aren't that big. The pages aren't that complex, and it's not heavy with Javascript, Java or plug-ins, so it must be the server. Nice work, and I enjoyed it, once it finally downloaded, though I'm not a fan of progressive JPGs (I'm probably in the minority on this).
patricks
am i the only person automatically scrugging when labeling images as "fine art" photography? putting it in your URL may come across as pretenious.
sprouty
Am I the only one who is getting white squares on a black background when you click on the link?
nasmformyzombie
Here at work (shhhhh, don't tell my boss) I'm on a screaming 100 Mbps connection, and your pages are still pretty slow to load. Other than that, very nice look and feel to the site.
paul_neuthaler
Very nice, Marke. How did you get to photograph those lovely women? All models?
ivanskavinsky
Looks horrific in Safari (Mac). Thumbnails are wrapped in thick white lines with a scroll bar in the middle. You might want to trial it in other browsers. Had no trouble with download speed though:-)
marke_gilbert
Patrick, <P> Totally understand about the "fine art" designation. However, it helps when on occasion when dealing with people. No pretension, purely practical.
richard_meyers
Hi Marke - Nice site. I'd suggest a little space/border at the top. Main page seems a little 'jammed' to the top. Minor issue though. However, this may be Firefox also. I had no trouble viewing images on a dialup connection so there must have been server problems earlier.
35mmdelux
Nice start, but too pretentious (" very experienced", "fine art"). Aside from its subjectivity, do you know what fine art is? You need to think about the masters when you use those kind of words. You might be better off simply calling your site, "Marke Gilbert, Photographer". Good luck. patrick l.
I am intrigued as to what you want your site to do for you. You have nice images, and I concur with what others are saying about the speed with which they open and can be viewed. It is very important to have text on your pages that search engines "find" your pages and site. I have found this out through painful experience. Not always the cleanest look, but if you are marketing your work, make sure folks can find you. Talk to an IT type, they will tell you.
skeeter
i think the site is easy to navigate and i had no problem with download speed on standard cable access.
