marosari00
Hello! Proud owner of several Pentax cameras. With my PZ1, after a full day use where all functions were available, the power zoom does not work (it did work). The lens is a Pentaz FA 28-105 with power zoom. The camera will focus, but the power zoom is either not operational (most of the time) or very erratic. I have tried using a Tamron 90-300 AF lens. With the Tamron it does not auto focus (and it used to). I suspect the camera. Have tried clearing the PF functions and re-establishing, to no avail. Have replaced batteries with new one. No changes. Has this happened to anyone? Suggestions? It seems it is time to send it to Pentax or one of the authorized repair stations. This camera is a keeper and I do believe it is worth repairing if it comes to that. Appreciate any comments or ideas. Keep clicking! Thanks!Manuel A. bill_oneill
Hi Manuel, It does sound like the camera body. Did you have a look at all the contacts? Once they get old they can get a little dust or some other particlulate matter jambed in them that can cause them to stick in the compressed position. Check them out. alan_chan4
For KA mount cameras, the contacts on the camera mount are the 1st thing to clean whenever problem has araised.
