Is new Leica MP cheaper in Asia (Singapore, Tokyo) than in the US?

Leica stuff is expensive in Tokyo.

Volume sales generally = lower prices. Leica gear is not going to go for a cheaper price in Tokyo (or in Japan.) Good luck in your quest!

Given the incredible feebleness of the dollar -- under Dubbya it has fallen from about 90 centimes to 1 euro 35 -- Leicas are severely underpriced in the US. The recent price rise makes a modest difference but the cameras should be more expensive still.

A used MP would be cheapest. You just have to touch up the finish and it'll be like new.

In Hong Kong - Photo Scientific on Stanley Street. Ask for Mr. Poon or Mr. Ah Fat.

 

 

Leica prices in Hong Kong seem to be the lowest you can get, worldwide.

 

I've dealt extensively with both the above well-established stores, and they offer both very good prices and very good service.

I live in Hong Kong - bought a new MP with passport at turn of year for equivalent of

US$2260 - from Tin Cheung Camera.

 

Re a previous post, I would also recommend the friendlier service of Photo Scientific but

they are slightly pricier for Leica...
