mark_jacoby___raleigh__nc
I don't find this in the archives but please excuse me if it has already been discussed. I am using a online gallery/print fulfillment (digilab.biz)and use it as a selling point for the B&G to review proofs and to share with their friends and family. Their friends can order prints without having to bug the B&G. The more print sales the better. But I am discovering the B&G are sharing the link with only the few people in their e-mail address book. Whereas I would prefer hundreds of people having access. So (assuming I have the approval from the B&G)I would like to gather e-mail addesses from anyone at the reception interested in viewing the proofs online. I could have a sign-up sheet or I could have small cards for people to fill out. Both of which would say that the B&G approve my making their gallery available. One minute I am convinced this is a great idea - the next it strikes me as being tacky. Has anyone out there done anything like this? Does anyone have an opinion to share? Many thanks. bruce_rubenstein
I did one wedding gig with a photographer who had me go to each table collecting email addresses. This was a rather upscale affair and no one but me seemed to mind. (Even doing table shots would have been better.) If you don't have someone to go and hustle the addys, I don't know how well you would do just leaving cards and lists around.
anner
More commonly I've seen photographers leave business cards on tables with links to the bride & groom's photos and when they'll be available online. I've kept a few business cards myself and checked out the photos afterward. I didn't buy any, but I might have if I were a relative or if I were in any of the pictures. wistler
their wedding on for portfolio viewing, would it be acceptable to print up tasteful business cards with that exact website address? Something like "BLAH BLAH photography will display X & X's wedding portfolio on line at www.BlahBlah.com/pageX&X. This way, all guests will be able to see some pictures of the B&G after the big event and up traffic on website plus cards are handed out. Thoughts? It may be a stupid question, but hey, as a beginner, I think if the thought is in my mind, I should ask. Wistler
colleendonovan
I agree with Anne and MC, but I use one of the couples engagement pictures with the web address on it instead of a businees card. I just put the info on one of their engagement pics and have wallets made up. I leave them by the guestbook at the wedding.
chris m., central florida
I do the same as Colleen. Ihave 4X6 promo flyers made, usually put out 75-100 with 3 images from the couple's engagement session, a website address and live date. Works like a charm. I don't want to have to take the time to collect addresses.
mark_jacoby___raleigh__nc
Thanks for the sound advice. I think I'll take the flyer/photo approach rather than collect all the e-mails. I'll start with this weekend's wedding.
wistler
wedding portraits can be seen on-line at said website address by this date" and on the back I put "Curtisy of XX photography" with the contact info on it. It was so well received! I put them on the tables at the reception with the B & G's picture up and everyone gobbled them right up...excited about it. I got TONS of inquiries about availablity, etc. I want to do this at every wedding now! Worked like a charm. MC
