simann
I have the kit 18-55 lens and a 50mm 1.4 Canon USM for my 300D at the moment. I would like an inexpensive super zoom to take on holiday, and can buy a Tamron 28-200 which would give me approx. 42-300mm on my 300D, the price is only 150 Euros Used (in very good condition) would this be a good lens/price for my needs??? I only want to take one or maybe two lenses with me.
tommyinca
You may want to look at an used EF70-210 3.5-4.5 USM instead. It can be found for about $150 used also. It may be an better option than a super zoom like Tamron 28-200.
jdarko
Go for it! I have a Sigma 28-200 that I use exclusively on holidays. Quality isn't the best but it comes in handy not having to change lenses during trips. Only downside is that it falls a little short on the wide end. simann
I considered a 70-xxx but this would fall down on the wide angle and would mean taking at least two lenses, I realy only want to take one if poss.
lotsawa
> I only want to take one or maybe two lenses with me. You already have those one or maybe two lenses! Both are much better than the superzoom. I would not go out on holiday and leave that wonderful 50/1.4 at home. Personally, I like to shoot my best pictures during holiday when I'm relaxed and in a creative mood. Would feel strange to leave my better lenses at home when time is most precious. Don't you need a lens for those nice low light shots? Regrets may come later if you leave it at home. Also, 28mm (44mm equivalent) would not be wide enough for me, so the superzoom is actually not very super. YMMV!
