david_gard
We have all had our shudaneva cameras. You know, I shudaneva gotten rid of that camera. 1989....When I got my first newspaper staff job, I bought my first pro camera, the last version of the F1 with the AE finder. Several years later, I foolishly traded it in, along with 7 or 8 FD lenses, for Nikon AF stuff. 2005.....My equipment at work is all EOS digital, and while I would never want to shoot with film on deadline again, I do miss my film slr stuff, especially that first kit. Does anyone have a beater F1n they are interested in selling to a guy who is trying to recapture his youth through silly purchases? Thanks for your time, David
h
David, Just a word of caution about the "spelling" of the camera you're wanting. The first Canon F1 in the 70's had minor changes and became what people call the F1n (small "n"). The last version (from the 80's) you're hoping to return too, is called the F1N (capital "N"). Best of luck in finding your reincarnated film camera ~ ; - ) Don't forget to check at KEH.
awahlster
David, Harolds advice is solid you might also check ebay you will find quite a few every week up for sale. I bought all three I have had there and been qute happy. I'm down to only two right now but I do have 12 other FD bodies in case I need something to mount a lens to. david_gard
Thanks to all. Harold...I always wondered about all the n/N nonsense. I am indeed searching for a F1N. Peter... I now know what n/N I am searching for. Your offer is for a F1n. I owned this one too, as a second body, but I would prefer a F1N body. Thanks for the offer. Another question...Years ago (living in the past again) I heard that the F1N will provide Aperature Priority exposure with the standard finder, you just won't have the shutter speed scale on the bottom. Is there any truth to this?

pensacolaphoto
I have only recently read about the AE feature with the F1N and the standard finder. All the past years I did not know this fact and I never tried using AE accordingly.
John Crowe
I shudaneva bought a brand new Elan IIe for my wife several years ago. I had no idea it would be worth less than a much older AE-1 today, and I had no idea that the kit lens was a complete rip off. The T-90 I traded in to get it would be worth at least twice as much now. Doh!
richard_oleson
You traded a T90? ARRRHHHH!! ARGGGHHHHH!! IT BURNS!!!!! :(=
brian hanson
Raid and Aki, I have never heard of AE with the standard finder on a F1N, How does this work, or where can I read about this? Thanks, Brian.
doug_nelson1
Sounded too good to be true to me, too. It works! For an FD lens, set the aperture you want to use. Set the shutter dial to A. At the instant of exposure, the lens will close down, and the camera will read the amount of light coming through the aperture, and set the shutter accordingly. Without the AE finder, you won't know what shutter speed is being set. With plenty of light and ISO 400, it won't matter. For a non-FD or Canon FL lens, push the stop-down slide button to close the aperture down to shooting aperture. I like this for walking around, say, at a demonstration with a 28mm set at f8 and hyperfocal, and just grab shooting.
