If you want to buy equipment in Hong Kong, go to a reputable shop. Many camera shops, especially those on the Nathan Road, are known for cheating tourists and foreigners.

I bought most of my stuff with Man Shing Photo Supplies, 106, Tung Choi Street, Mongkok. It is an old and reputable shop.

Alternatively, you may try Salon Photo. TEL: (852)2376-0906 in Tsim Sha Tsui. Their prices are lower than Man Shing (about 5-10 %) because they only sell grey market goods (parellel-imported goods).

I bought my 70-200 IS with Salon and am very happy with it.

As a FYI, I am getting a quote of $3800 for the 1D Mk2 and $6000 for the 500/4L. Think I'll buy the 1D Mk2 there...

Check out the above link. Here I got my MKII and highly recommend this vendor. If you live in the U.S. you better off buying here.

There are not much bargains in HK., especially in the high end.
