joshua daniels
A friend with a D70 has been having an intermittent problem with themirror hanging up (after the shot it stay up until you shut the cameraoff and restart it). Is this a "known" issue with the D70? Does thelatest firmware solve the problem?
dan_brown14
Geez... ...it seems a day doesn't go by without someone posting some problem with the D70. Or is it me?
markp
Joshua - are you sure your battery is properly charged? I know a number of people with D70s (including myself) and haven't heard of this one. ---------- "...it seems a day doesn't go by without someone posting some problem with the D70." At the same time, many tens of thousands of people are using the camera every day without experiencing problems to post about....

rustys pics
If the camera is still under warranty, contact Nikon USA and send it in for repair. You should be asking Nikon tech support this question.... Go to google. Type "NIkon USA Warranty repair". Get an authorization from them before sending it in. arnabdas
Is he using very low shutter speeds? This may happen if you fire off the camera with a small aperture (in A mode) and not much ambient light.
jim_roberts
This happened on my D-70 shortly after I bought it. It would occur every 100 shots or so. I took it back to my dealer and he replaced it (and sent it in for repair).
robert_mccann
I had a student with an N55 where the mirror went halfway up for a whole roll- she discovered that battery power was the cause- new batteries and the problem vanished. I'd suspect batteries...
