Ed_Ingold
Run NikonScan as a stand-alone program, rather than as a Photoshop plug-in. When you insert the film carrier, open the thumbnail "drawer" and click on the blank icon. NikonScan will generate a thumbnail for each image in the strip. Select any or all images (click, ctl-click, shift-click rules apply) and click on the scan button. You will get a pop-up window asking where to store the files. In general, you want to select continuous numbering, and not to reset the count for each batch. Running NikonScan alone is much preferred to using it as a plug-in. Photoshop quickly fills up memory as images accumulate. If Photoshop crashes (not unusual if it runs out of memory), you lose all the scans to that point. With NikonScan as a stand-alone program, you may crash, but only lose the current scan.
robert_martin5
I do a lot of batch scanning using a Nikon 9000 and Nikonscan4, I don't know if Nikonscan3 works the same. In addition to the previous post, you can batch scan using the same settings for each image, or you can select different settings on the scan parameters for each image. If you want to scan all images with the same scan paramenter, you need these set as the user parameters before you open Nikonscan. If you want to batch scan where each image has unique scan parameters, select the images and click the prescan button instead of the scan button. The scanner will perform a prescan on each selected image. After the prescan is complete, click on an image in the thumbnail drawer and make any adjustments you want to that image. Then click on the next one and do the same. When you have made adjustments to all images you selected, select them again in the thumbnail drawer and click the scan button. You will go through two pop down windows where you can specify where to store the image and other parameters. Each image will be scanned using the unique scan parameters you selected. Hope this helps.
