Pentax 645 lenses on another body

Lenses are, by and large, unique to individual camera models. Pentax

is the only one I have seen which makes an adapter to fit P67 lenses

to P645 bodies. There may be an adapter to fit P645 to Pentax 35mm

cameras, but I'm not sure. I do know that there is one for the P67

to Pentax 35mm.

As for any lens interchangeability between various makes and models,

no. View camera lenses can be adapted to box cameras, but that's it.

there exist 3 Pentax original adapters

1.Pentax 67 lenses on 645 body

2. Pentax 67 lenses on Pentax K-bajonet body

3. Pentax 645 lenses on Pentax K-bajonet body.

I own 1 and 2. The diaphragm is closed automatically on version 1 and

has to be stopped down in version 2.

The focal length remains the same, so a 105mm standard lens from 67

becomes portrait on Pentax K. Since only the center of the lens is in

use this way, the results are pretty good.

Has anyone used the Pentax 645 lenses on the P67 or P67II and P67 lenses on the P645? Have there been any problems? Is quality as good as when using lenses specifically made for the 645 and the 67? How expensive are the adaptors and what exactly are they called? I have purchased a P645N and am interested in a P67, in part to have an even larger format to work with and in part to overcome the problem of no interchangeable backs. I would appreciate any information available.

Clark, you cannot use Pentax 645 lenses on the Pentax 67. You can use Pentax 67 lenses on the 67 (of course), 645 and Pentax 35mm cameras. The two latter via adapter. You can use 645 lenses on the Pentax 645 and Pentax 35mm cameras (via adapter).

Personally I would not recommend using Pentax 645 lenses on 35mm cameras; the quality is somewhat dissapointing due to the medium format lenses lower resolution.
