hey all...i'm having a show march 12. so if you're in the LA, OC area, come check it

out...it's my first solo show...i will have about 30-40 11x14 hand printed BW images

(which i've been doing for the last few nights until 2 in the morning)...i would say about 99

percent of the shots were taken with my leicas (see not OT anymore :) and maybe one or

two with a rolleiflex....anyway, enough babble, here's your official invitation...

Congratulations, Russ. I was visiting Long Beach a couple weeks back, and while flipping through one of the local papers I came across one of your pictures that you had shared here (the local bar owner). For a moment my online experience collided with my real-world experience ... and my head exploded. (Not really)

Will try to check out the exhibit.

thanks all for the great comments....i hope to see many of u there...PN and this forum

have been a great learning tool...

jonas, ha! that's too funny...i sometimes post the ones that don't get printed here or on

my website....i do remember that picture well...there was a great controversey about the

greenish highlights and how i should have used NPZ instead of Press :)

ray...the arts distrcit is small...its epicenter is around linden/broadway and radiates four

blocks out from there....i was drawn to it because it is still in its infancy and i can get a

good foot in the door to the community...long beach is in a weird pivotal time...it's

attracting so many developers right now..one of the last affordable beach fronts in CA....

the jury is still out whether there will be an arts district in the future....the city likes to pay

lip service to the arts, but seems to do very little...many artists are being driven out by

new "artist lofts" that start at $400,000....the goal of the project was to try to capture the

energy there and document its growth and changes......

The 'Arts District' is lucky to have you Russ, guys like you give substance to the moniker. Hope the show is a great success!

Best wishes!!!

Just a naughty thought, but since many of us can't attend maybe someone could take pics and post them here afterwards?
