davebell
I want to upgrade my flimsy Velbon Luxi tripod and am set on purchasing theManfrotto 322RC2 grip action head. It will be used to support my 5D/grip with a70-200F4 lens at the most, otherwise my toy-like 350D/50 F1.8 at the otherextreme. I am looking for suggestions for a suitable tripod to go with this headi.t.o ease of use/quality/weight/height (I am 5'11" and don't want to crouch toomuch). I find the choices a bit confusing so any real life suggestions, fromexperience, would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
bennyboy
Manfrotto 190PRO/B.
mike_h3
David: I use the 322RC2 paired with Manfrotto 3021 legs. Works well with my 30D + 70-200 2.8IS. It could always be lighter but I really like this set up. Good luck.
phyrpowr
Ditto the 3021, I'm six feet, and with the center post up just slightly, no loss of stability, I can look directly into the viewfinder with a 486 ballhead and 20D, no grip
KenPapai
Again, ditto on the 3021 rec. Iam also 6' tall and no issues at all working with that combo and a heavy kit.
skipd
The Manfrotto 190ProB is the same tripod as the U.S.-labeled Bogen/Manfrotto 3021BPro. Outside the U.S. it is the 190ProB. A very good choice, by the way.
canonfodder
David, I use a 190 PRO with the same head that you are thinking of and I have a 5D with a 70-200 f2.8L IS lens mounted on it... I have no problems at all.
skipd
I think I goofed above. The 055ProB is the non-U.S. equivalent to the 3021BPro.
armando_reyes
I just replaced the 3047 head with the 322RC2 action grip on my 3046 Bogen. This tripod proved very reliable when the Mamiya RB Pro S was mounted on it. Old tripod and don't want to "upgrade".
