7_eleven
Can anyone tell me what might account for the unusual color characteristics of these photos: http://egglestontrust.com/images/artist_books/election_eve_w.jpg http://egglestontrust.com/images/artist_books/election_eve_x.jpg A particular type of film? processing? or filter? Granted, they're circa 1977, but I've seen recent photos that exhibit similar characteristics, supposedly without digital manipulation. Thanks! hakon_soreide
The visual effect is rather similar to a pinhole photo, although due to the sharpness of the writing as compared to the background, I'm not sure that's the case here. Pinhole photos, due to the nature of light passing through a pinhole get a soft-focus look, depending on the size of the hole compared to the focal length, and also colours seem more faded due to the long exposure times coupled with the differing wavelengths of light hitting the film at slightly different places.<p> <a href="http://www.hakonsoreide.com/Photos">www.hakonsoreide.com</a>
cheec
You can get the look with a warm-up filter 81C and some 70's props. Or adjust the photoshop curve if you're shooting digital.
dai_hunter
Here is some correction - applied a 80D Kodak Wratten filter with white point correction + Levels + fairly aggressive USM to both images. Not perfect but moving in the right direction. 1/2<div></div>

Matthew Currie
Maybe I just don't "get it." To me it looks like old Kodacolor, maybe a bit overexposed.

James G. Dainis
What Scott said. The photos are almost 30 years old and have faded/color shifted. James G. Dainis
rowland_mowrey
Looks like a print from a slide to me, not a print from a negative. Ron Mowrey
