jeff voorhees
I don't currently have access to any of the published Leica literature, so I thought I'd ask. I've seen yellow filters for this lens listed as "0" and "1" which I assume to be the equivlents of a #6 and #8 respectively. I am trying to find a clean example of whichever filter approaches the yellow #8 . If anyone can advise, I would be most appreciative. Thank you everyone. MTC Photography
Ebay is the best bet. I bought a Summitar Y2 yellow filter, and a green filter last year at ebay.
jeff voorhees
I also meant to include that I've seen yellow filters marked "2". Anyway, perhaps the Leitz "2" designation is the standard #8 equivalent?
ronald_moravec1
Even a #1 is quite pale. Go for a #2. Roughly= to #
peter
If you have trouble finding a summitar filter (and they are noticeably harder to find than summicron filters) you might want to keep your eyes open for a Leica adapter. I cannot recall the Leica code designation but you see these from time to time.) This may give you greater options to find the colour you are looking for as you will be able to use any suitable 39mm Leica thread filter on the summitar. Aoresteen
Jeff, I had SK Grimes make me a custom adapter to use 39mm filters with my Summitar. Cost was $50. It is much nicer than the Leica adapter and you can use the Leica clip on lens shade with it.
