sue_labeaume
I have an Elan. Lately it seems to be having much more problems focusing in low light then it use to! It seems to have started after I "upgraded" my 300EZ to a 420EZ. But all the auxilary lights seem to work on both the camera and flash! I take alot of dance pictures. It use to focus almost everytime, now I seem to have to try and manually focus it in the dark! Is there a simple explaination as to what might be happening? The camera has done a couple other odd things that seem to have been addressed in other questions (shutter locking open, apperature reading 0)---I really love my Elan. But I'm wondering if moving up to an A2E, or getting a different flash, or better lenses would make a difference. ANy suggestions? THanks, Sue
pixseal
Do not get the A2E for AF with flash! The A2E disables the AF assist lamp on all accessory speedlites. The best option is to get a faster lens:

faster and more reliable AF
greater flash range
more DOF options
BTW, your shutter locking and aperture reading problems are most likely due to a faulty lens or "dirty" electrical contacts.
