andrew gundershaug
Hello all... I have a M4 that has become a little pesky...when I change lenses or when I try to preview different lenses with the frameline preview lever the framelines do no move from the standard 35mm lines...they are stuck... anyhow...I am looking for a recommendation on whom I should send my camera to be repaired Thanks in Advance,Andrew
michael_paris
I would send mine to Tamarkin in NYC, but there are others who probably know of better places. I feel very comfertable when I am in their store. I'm sure they aren't the cheapest around. But for a few bucks more the peace of mind maybe worth it. Troll
Just jiggle the little lever until the right lines show up.
arnold_y_chong
Leica has promotion for repair services, offer free pick-up, 1 year warantee for repair items. UPS picked up mine, gave me receipt, I had not called them to pick it up, Leica must have done that. I called Leica on the phone ahead of time. 1-800-222-0118, FAX; 201-767-3438. steve_levine
If you are in the USA, Golden Touch / Sherry Krauter. She comes highly regarded in this forum. She specializes in M camera repairs, (but won't work on threadmount cameras). She has rebuilt enough old M's for forum members that she is in the "legendary" category. I can attest to her service and good work. She has CLA'd some old dusty rangefinder glass for me. These returned sparkling like new!
a._j._valys
Another vote for Sherry Krauter. Just had my 50mm lens repaired. Very reasonable and returned the lens alot quicker than expected.
SCL
Sherry Krauter or Don Goldberg at Dagcamera. Both receive extremely high ratings from Leica users, both domestic & foreign. I've only used Don and he has done outstanding work for me for several years. Call or Email each of them describing your problem and ask for a quote. john da
Andrew, I've heard good things about DAG. But, I can vouch for Sherry Krauter because she has worked on one of my M6s and a couple of Summicrons for me. She does excellent work and is very fair regarding cost. Rob F.
Sherry did my M5 and M3, and my 50mm Summicron. Top Drawer! krauter@warwick.net
tim_stephens
Andrew, Kindermann Canada's Gerry Smith is acknowledged as another master. He has repaired and CLA'd two screwmounts for me and both came back like factory new. Fast turnaround time too. Do a search on Leica repair on this site and you'll find many other threads mentioning him as well as DAG and the other main experts.
greg j. lorenzo
Another vote here for Kindermann Canada and Gerry Smith. First rate service, first rate gentleman. Regards, Greg
ned
Andrew, Another vote for Don Goldberg / DAG camera. I sent my M4 to him last fall for a cla and he did a beautiful job. Good Luck, Ned
john_boyle3
Gerry Smith at Kindermann Canada in Toronto did a CLA on both my M2 and M4 and also cleaned my 50mm Elmar. He does superb work and is highly recommended.
Rich B NYC
I'd vote for DAG anytime but I've heard good things about Sherry Krauter as well. I don't know about Tamarkin for repairs as all they probably do is contract it out. However, you can bet that they will stand behind the repair. They're also great to deal with. ben z
I use DAG, his work has been great. I had to send my MP in to Leica under warranty once and they did a good job too. Never used Sherry but did own an M4-P she overhauled just before I bought it, ended up returning it to the store because the shutter speeds were wildly off, but otherwise the camera worked great. nemeng
I have a listing of repairers in the Leica FAQ I maintain, at:
 http://www.nemeng.com/leica/007e.shtml
(FWIW, this is the second hit you get if you search google for "leica repair".)
