absinthe
I just had my first roll of film cross processed & had some questionsabout scanning it. Its Slide (E6) film that I had cross processed. When I scan it, is it more the norm to scan it in as transparency andthen invert to a positive in photoshop or scan it in as color reversal? I am doing both right now to see the effects on the color shits, butwas wondering what the norm is?
absinthe
EEEK! color SHIFTS! Color poo would not be a good thing I think :-)
sinwen
I would scan it as a transparency because it is one, just make sure you have no preset auto correction of some kind in your scanner. Michel
absinthe
OK, here are samples of the two different ways to scan... This one is scanned in as a generic reversal print film<div></div>
absinthe
The same frame scanned in as transparency slide film & then inversed I did no touching up or curves adjustment besides inversing in photoshop yet to either of these<div></div>
roger_smith4
Heather, which one looks like the slide? Are you using Vuescan or your driver's software?
elliot_n
'which one looks like the slide?' she's working with a negative. i can't see the point of cross-processing film unless you're going to have conventional prints made. if you're going to scan the film, why not shoot on low-contrast negative or transparency and then create a cross-processed effect (or whatever effect you like) using the curves and hue/saturation tools in photoshop? absinthe
Eventually I will have prints made. I'm just screwing around at the moment. Never cross processed before & play leads to vision (or one hopes it does)
