ken_dunn1
I am wanting to print out some new promo pieces to send out to my prospective customers and I was wondering what would be the favorite flavor of paper for something like that. Glossy has the most impact and "wow" factor maybe, but I will be sending them to art directors and thought they might appreciate matte more and it would stand up to handling better, maybe? What would be a good universal paper that everyone would like? Has to print on both sides, brand is not so importaint as surface because I will have to compromise there as it will be an odd size and will have a limited selection. Thanks in advance. Ed_Ingold
Print how? What kind of promo? How many pieces? If you are thinking "inkjet" double-sided, then you are limited to matte paper, and not particularly good paper at that. Perhaps you should consider a conventional print job (i.e., offset press) on glossy text, with a varnish top coat. Talk to your printer about options. ken_dunn1
There are many good papers out there that are double sided. Epson Enhanced Matt is one. I don't think it really matters as to who is seeing the prints, but it would be travel magazine art directors mainly. The printing will be in small runs, maybe 20-50 at a time so inkjet is the only practial way. I know what I want to do and how to do it, please just help me answer the question, what do most people like, this is just a survey.
john_houghton
There are good heavyweight semi-gloss and lustre double sided inkjet papers available. E.g. Olmec semi-gloss and Permajet lustre.
Ed_Ingold
Epson Enhanced Matte is a single-sided paper.
steven_clark
Epson does make a double sided matte though. I think it's the same finish as Matte Heavyweight.
andrew_bradnan
I like Bergger Fine art Ink jet paper. 100% cotton, just slightly creamy in color, I'm guessing 70#. I mostly like the weight, and the prints turn out great. They have a nice textured one too if that's your thing. Made in France, so a little harder to track down. jim_simmons
Red River makes some excellent double-sided matte papers. Try their Premium in various thicknesses. Mitsubishi's DS matte is very white, with good blacks. Only about 7 or 9 mils, though. Epson's DS matte is very good. And Moab's papers are very popular. Another alternative is Mitsubishi's semi-gloss. It's not a thick paper, but it's got better color saturation than the matte papers without having that glossy glare. Has a weird slickness to the feel though that some don't like.
