alex_fan1
The black paint on the back door of my chrome M bodies show sign of aging. Has anyone try to repaint them ? Any information on the types of paint to be using for this purpose. OR shall it be leave alone. Cheers Alex
Rob F.
"OR shall it be leave alone." Yes. Let them show their signs of aging. They've earned it.
jerry_lehrer
Alex, You can buy replacement back doors if you want. I wouldn't, but you could. You can even buy replacement for chipped vulcanite for the back door. That, I would do if I needed it. Jerry
marc_lieberman1
Alex: Call Steve Choi at Steve's Camera Repair Center in Culver City, CA (Tel:310.397.0072). He did a CLA on my M3 and used some very high quality touch-up paint. I don't know whether it's original Leica paint, automotive touch up paint or what, but it terrific. joop
Hi Alex, I was recently looking for a new leatherette on my M3 and came across this link: http://www.fogfeet.com/installation.html Here is explained how to install the leatherette AND how to repaint the back door. Good luck!

james_elwing
Remember if you are replacing an M3 back door that the early ones with glass / ceramic pressure plates are different; I don't know how compatible.
al_kaplan1
Mine proudly wear their battle scars! Get 'em fixed up and pretty when you're ready to sell them. Otherwise it's money down the drain.
