Coolscan 5000ED autoexposure

Recommended Posts

I heard that the scanner autoexpose the slide or the film depending on

the area selected using an alghorithm similar to the evalutative

metering of a camera. I have also heard that changing the selection I

can change the exposure calculated by the scanner. I have tried few

times but changing the selection and then pressing the exposure

buttomn doesn't change anything. Does anyone out there use this

technique? Does it work that way?

In the Nikon Scan software, the only settings which are affected by the marquis selection are those on the tool palette. A marquis selection will not affect the autoexposure (which is on the main TWAIN console), but it will affect the auto-contrast (on the curves item in the tool palette).
