robertmccurley
This quote was posted by a fellow member in my camera club's forum ... The Amateur worries about equipment. The Pro worries about money. The Master worries about the light. As I think about the best photos I've ever made, it's true that the best were made when the main thing on my mind was the light.

dan_fromm2
My biggest worry? That the sky will fall on my head.
dennis_couvillion
Two things concern me: First is exposure. Quite often I will pre-set both my exposure and focusing. I'll tak a reading, for example, on a sidewalk or the wall of a building which is lit the way I expect to be shooting. Then, however, when a situation arises quickly and I fire off a shot it worries me that the lighting may have changed or been slightly different and that I should have adjusted the exposure. This is one of the reasons why I shoot black and white film (aside from just liking the look of it)... the exposure latitude is forgiving. The other thing that bothers me is distractions in the background (or foreground) of a shot. Sometimes I'll wait and wait with my finger on the shutter (at the risk of losing a shot completely), waiting for a pedestrian to walk out of the frame. Of course, sometimes in crowds clutter can't be avoided, but I have numerous negatives in which on the very edge you may see someone's arm or foot exiting the frame. But the exciting part is the anticipation of waiting to see the developed negatives to see if you got it right. Regards, Dennis
robertmccurley
I had never seen that Vic...pretty funny. You and Chicken Little Dan. I've got a near-mint Leica helmet for sale...just a few minor bright marks and no dings... While my statement above is true...I must confess that I do enjoy the equipment and while I'm on this soapbox, let me say that I've learned more from this forum about photography in the last 6 months or so than in the past several years...great group of knowledgable people. ben z
In photography I also have two concerns, which are concerns only because they both frustrated me from time to time even though I'd think by now I'd have a handle on them. The first is the fact that my eyes see a much wider range of tones than the film will show. The second is the fact that my mind will totally block out distracting elements that then appear on film, like a garbage can or litter or power lines. william_todd_faulk
My greatest concern or anxiety is that sophomoric and incongruous threads similar to this will unquestionably persist to litter the Leica Forum. One recommendation would be to visit the web sites of Oprah or Dr. Phil it is entirely feasible that your inquiry will be satisfied there. If ones apprehension lies with proper exposure or composition than perhaps fishing would be a more fitting preoccupation.
35mmdelux
The best photos I ever took were before I received formal training and didn't know much about photography or equipment - 1 camera, 1 lens. They were probably better then because they were shot from the heart in an effort to capture a unique moment or situation.
robertmccurley
I checked with both Oprah and Dr. Phil Mr. Faulk...unfortunatley I came to the conclusion that neither had any credibility because they didn't own a Lieca ;)
Brad_
If ones apprehension lies with proper exposure or composition...
I think you're onto something, William, but honestly, one should not take such a casual attitude towards proper exposure and composition willy-nilly. What I really worry about are those voices rattling around in my head, taking over my camera the moment I press the shutter when I'm shooting flowers, parks, and benches - causing the crap below to pop out. Maybe getting a Leica would help?<BR

www.citysnaps.net

frederick_muller
Composition and light. Given the right light, I am most concerned with getting a pleasing compositiion, and most frustrated by little things that appear in the final picture that I didn't seem to notice when I first made the exposure.
