ProMaster Quick Release Neck Strap - Danger Danger Danger!

Don't ever buy or use a ProMaster neckstrap with a Quick Release! I

bought one last year. I must have been nuts because I never really

felt secure with it, especially when I carried my 300D and 300/4 IS

with 1.4X. I always felt uncomfortable about the security of those

Quick Release snaps with a fair amount of weight.

Anyway, I've been using the QR neck strap for about a year when

today I had a near catastrophe at Barnes and Noble. With a coffee in

my right hand and a book and the 300D by the strap in my left hand,

I was walking merrily along when one of the QR snaps let loose!

I had my 24/2.8 on the 300D. Fortunately I had just enough of a grip

that the strap, secured on the camera at one end only, did not slip

out of my hand. The 24/2.8 is light enough so my grip on the loose

end of the strap held. If I had the 300/4 IS + 1.4X, it would have

been curtains.

The QR snap let loose at the taught end of the strap so the

camera/lens fell the length of the long end of the strap and stopped

suddenly with twang! But I managed to hold on! I did spill some hot

coffee on my crotch but better than damaged equpment!

Do not buy or use ProMaster QR straps. You cannot trust the QR on

that POS!
