jim_mueller2
Don't ever buy or use a ProMaster neckstrap with a Quick Release! I bought one last year. I must have been nuts because I never really felt secure with it, especially when I carried my 300D and 300/4 IS with 1.4X. I always felt uncomfortable about the security of those Quick Release snaps with a fair amount of weight. Anyway, I've been using the QR neck strap for about a year when today I had a near catastrophe at Barnes and Noble. With a coffee in my right hand and a book and the 300D by the strap in my left hand, I was walking merrily along when one of the QR snaps let loose! I had my 24/2.8 on the 300D. Fortunately I had just enough of a grip that the strap, secured on the camera at one end only, did not slip out of my hand. The 24/2.8 is light enough so my grip on the loose end of the strap held. If I had the 300/4 IS + 1.4X, it would have been curtains. The QR snap let loose at the taught end of the strap so the camera/lens fell the length of the long end of the strap and stopped suddenly with twang! But I managed to hold on! I did spill some hot coffee on my crotch but better than damaged equpment! Do not buy or use ProMaster QR straps. You cannot trust the QR on that POS! catchlight
In all fairness, Jim, ProMaster did advertise it as a "quick release" strap.
yeahroon
"Quick Release" is such an interesting idea that us guitar players usually opt for "strap locks" which are the exact opposite and prevent a guitar from being quickly undone from its strap.
