yeux tortu
Since there were a couple of posts describing D70s being less than robust and failing after a couple of thousand shutter releases, I was wondering about the opposite end of the spectrum. How many D70 owners have 20,000 or more shutter releases? What is the highest number of shutter releases that someone has put a D70 through? aardvarko
39,012. It still looks quite nice, probably due to being cocooned in gaffers tape; one of the more visible signs of use is that the shutter release is less textured (or perhaps the nubbins are filled in with finger oil?) aardvarko
And to make a pre-emptive strike - please don't tell me that I should be using a "more professional" camera. I'm a student.
yeux tortu
No, I have a d70 and I was hoping for some data to counterbalance the "consumer build" comments. A few weeks ago it seemed everyones d70 was hitting a wall and crapping out.
yeux tortu
39 thousand is reassuring.
bwcombs
Chris and Chris, I'm naive here...How do find out a shutter release count on your D70?
aardvarko
No easy way - count 'em up! If you've been shooting with sequential naming, you can search for the number of times it's cycled past 10K. That's what I've done.
lex_jenkins
I don't know 'bout the d70 but with my Olympus C-3040Z P&S digicam the EXIF file and default file names increase a numerical increment for each exposure. As long as I don't reset the camera I can use this to estimate the number of total camera cycles. However, I *have* reset the camera a couple of times because it was quicker to return the entire menu structure to the factory default than the wade through every setting. But I'm not too concerned about how many shots I get with that camera. It's lasted something like four years now, which is more than I cynically expected when I bought the thing. yeux tortu
Opanda IExif 1.8 is freeware which includes a total number of shutter releases field. Google it
matt_pearson
I just passed 12K in just over a year. I'm a little panicky about it and would like to hear more positive news as well :-) I'm more than a little tempted to sell it and try to grab up a D200... but, man, I just can't swing that right now.
