david_werbeloff1
Hi All: Are those threads for mounting a 34mm(?) filter I see on the front of my 1937 90mm Elmar f4? Best, David
kaiblanke
Usually Leica A36 (36mm slip-on) filters are used with the older LTM Elmar. These fit also alot of other lenses including the 50/3.5 Elmar and the 135/4.5 Hektor. The inner threads are as long as I remember 34mm, but filters in this size are usually very hard to find. awahlster
NO they are not filter threads they have a finer pitch and if you force a filter on it will most likely cause the retaining ring to be nearly locked in place or at the very least hard to get off if the lens needs cleaning the results of which cold be the retaining ring getting marked up. By a A-36 slip on to something thread adapter and buy what ever filter you need in a much easier to find size.
eliot_rosen1
As noted above you have two options. Use an A36 filter is one option. They are not hard to come by, go to most any Leica dealer, plenty were made. Second option, by an A36 to E39 filter adapter (I forget the codeword, but Leitz made one) and use your E39 size filters. dan flanders
Mark is correct. The threads on mine obviously are for reflection suppression. A SOOGZ will permit the older 36mm lenses to use E39 filters and corresponding shades.
david_werbeloff1
Hi Gents: Thank you for your informative replies. I can put my hands on a SOOGZ fairly easily. Best, David
