removing top cover on bessa 1

Recommended Posts

I have a Bessa I that has a viewfinder so dirty you can hardly see

through it.I would love to clean it, but have been unable to get the

top cover off. Has anyone done this who can talk me through it? It

looks simple enough, like you remove the wind knob, remove the collar

around the shutter release and it should pop off. Something else is

holding it on it would seem, but I can't see what.

A friend gave me this camera in the 70's, and I remember seeing some

very nice glass mounted slides he shot with it, and I would love to

get it up to snuff. The viewfinder at best is small and squinty, add

dirty and it is mostly useless.

This has a vakar lens, I am assuming a triplet? What can I expect

performance wise?

Today I have bought a Bessa I. The Viewfinder is dirty. So I want to remove the top too. I found the three screws and removed them. But I dont know how to remove the collar around the shutter release. I have turned the collar, but I cannot see any effort. Please can you explain the removal of this thing more specifically?
