tommy_baker
Apologies for posting here, but the Nikon fourm response is slow to non-existant. and also how much is a black Nikkor f1.8 3.5cm lens worth? Thanks for your input
shambrick007
As always, depends condition, but I believe I've seen reverences to them going for more than $10,000 US in mint condition.
kent_demas1
I don't think I've seen a black SP going for less than $7000 when in passable condition.
tommy_baker
in excellent condition. some brassing, but no dings and dents. normal use
rover
Just normal wear....that will go for more than what I can sell my car for.
furcafe
I think the going price for a user 35/1.8 w-Nikkor (in Nikon RF mount, LTM is usually more) starts @ around $500-600.
furcafe
Also, the 35/1.8 w-Nikkor only came in black finish, although there were some variations in the aperture ring IIRC (don't have Rotoloni w/me).
tommy_baker
This one might be an all black lens. Black aperture ring even. Apparently these are quite rare.
furcafe
Yes, I remember Rotoloni noting that the 35/1.8 w/the black aperture ring is very rare.
michaelging
There is a Black nikon SP on ebay right now with a 50 f1.4 for $5,999. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&rd=1&item=3873375033&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT.
tommy_baker
That auction is not for an SP. It is for the much more common S3. And the 5cm 1.4 isn't as rare as the 35cm 1.8 in all black.
michaelging
You are correct I had the wrong camera here is the right one for $22.000,A bargan I am sure. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? sparkie
yes. I have seen that one already. Thanks. That is a steal ;-)
stephen_w.
Michael, That's the same auction you previously posted. As for which camera is the more rare and/or collectible, I can't find any data on the S3, but there were at least 14,000 SP's produced (with cloth shutters from Gandy), much more plentiful than my Canon VI-T I bought for $400. michaelging
Here it is (I hope) the $22,998.00 Black SP/w motor and no lens http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15234&item=3874392744&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
stephen_w.
Sorry, ~8300 VI-T produced with no loss of functionality compared to either Nikon, except motor. Now that's a collectors frenzy re. the Nikons.

terry_rory
OT a little but Robert White are currently listing an unused/NIB Nikon S3 for 1295 GB pounds. This will be far more usable than something costing $20,000 just cos its old and painted black. (Bank Deposit box cameras) You would also get a 50mm f/1.4 lens and a leather ever ready case and cable release for the money. You would have the complete retro experience, a great little camera and only a total nerd would be able to tell the difference if you allowed them to come close to it. (I am in danger of talking myself into it here!)
