david_hay1
Hi there. I found that my D70 cuts out in the cold, and it wasn't all that cold- probably above freezing. Has anybody else found this?CheersDavid
ilkka_nissila
I've had no problems down to -12 degrees C. Well, humidity may freeze on the ocular and make use of the viewfinder more difficult, but the camera seems to work as advertized.
pcnilssen
No problems from me in Norway either. Spent some hours last Sunday next to the skating arena in about -5C. Except for some faster drained battery, no problem! Best regards Per-Christian
richard_laepple
No problems at about -10 C some days ago.
cappoldt
Sat out in the bird blind in 10 degrees for 90 minutes last week with no problems. I stopped working, but the camera was fine.
cghubbell
I spent 2-4 hours at a time in 0 - 10 degrees farenheit. Not the slightest problem and I was amazed at my battery life as well. Not a single problem. I proactively ziploc'd the body and lenses before coming back indoors to combat condensation, but the camera worked like a champ. Wish my fingers worked as well as my D70. tonybynum
No problems with d70 dowm to -25 F. Sounds like a battery problem. Do see problems with the small lcd on the bottom of my d2h. when it gets cold the iso number gets a little slow. just keep your breath off the camera and lenses! erick_lamontagne
It took a couple of hours at -20C for the battery to show some weakness. The camera not working around freezing point is not normal IMO.
dave_mueller
I found that keeping the battery in my pocket helped. The display was a little slow to come on, but worked fine after the camera was on for a few seconds. This was around 10F/-12C.
ottocrat
I too can confirm that my D70 functions surprisingly well in temperatures down to minus 30. I was expecting to have to buy a spare battery for the winter, but so far a single charge has been lasting several hours' shooting in cold weather (I'm in Ottawa, Canada).
