adam_nance
Do I need a special piece of software to plug my D70 straight into my laptop and use the laptop for preview? I'd like to be able to check exposure more carefully than I can in the preview window on the back of the camera. I'm currently using Windows XP, PS7, and ACDSee for my photo processing in case any of these can help with this. Thanks in advance! -Adam
errol young
I shot my d70 tethered to my laptop using Nikon Capture. It worked well. All files went to the folder but I would have had to open them in another program to realy see them or work with them. You can set Nikon Capture Editor to view them. mike_elek
You would want to make sure that your laptop screen has been properly calibrated. Some laptop displays won't display accurate color or contrast, and that can make it very difficult to judge exposure, although you probably can fix minor variances in your image editor. mfeetham
Purchase a USB video capture device for your laptop (try Radio Shack or tigerdirect.com ~$30-$50). Then go from the video out on the camera to the device. Each picture you take will preview just like it does on the camera's LCD screen. (I've only done this with the D100, I am ASSUMING the D70 has the same feature)
marnedog
On your menu, you have to set the USB setting to PTP if you are useng Windows XP. PTP is used instead of USB Mass storage.
