bob_mcbob
I have this posted in the classifieds section, but I thought it wouldprobably be a good idea to post it here since I'll probably get abetter response (I still haven't heard anything back from the originalad). I'm not entirely sure if it's okay to post WTB ads in here, theforum guidelines don't say anything on the subject.
I'm looking for a few Russian items, and I thought I might as well seewhat's available from photo.net members before taking my chances oneB*y. Here's a list:
1) Black Jupiter 9 85mm f/2 Nice condition, perfect glass, preferablywith both caps, not out of adjustment (that's important)
2) Russian 35mm viewfinder
3) Russian 85mm viewfinder
4) Front and rear caps for a Jupiter 12
5) Jupiter 8 or Helios 103 in pristine condition, just to avoid havingto buy another Kiev body to get a spare (my current one has a tinyscratch on the front element)
It would be great to find someone with all of these items available, but that does seem a little unlikely. Barring that, it would also begreat if the Jupiter 9 came with the 85mm viewfinder, but I'm okaywith buying both the viewfinders on eB*y.
Please let me know if you have any of this stuff available, I'm reallyfeeling the Russian gear-buying itch! ericd
If this could wait for about a month I think I might sell a Jupiter-8 as I have orderer a Kiev-4a to fit it with a Zeiss Sonnar 1.5.
rob_murray
These things change hands all the time at www.rangefinderforum.com assuming that stuff you mentioned is for rangefinders.
ben_johnson3
I'm curious why you want a black J-9? From reading many posts and articles on these lenses, it seems the consensus is that the earlier silver ones are often better made. I could be wrong about this generalization, of course, but my 1960 silver J-9 is a gem. Also, if you can't find a rear cap for your J-12, try cutting a 35mm film canister in half and sliding over the rear element. I temporarily lost my rear cap, and this worked fine, although I only did this with an LTM version, but I assume that it would work in Kiev mount. Happy shooting.
