richard_laepple
After getting a GS645 folder some months ago I now added a GS645S with 1:4/60 lens in very nice condition. There is only one little problem: the parallax correction is a bit sticky. When I turn the distance ring from infinity to near distances the parallax marks sometimes (not always) move with delay. I can also hear a click. After playing around with the distance ring the marks move normal and without any click. Is this a common appearance with this camera? Maybe there is someone who has already fixed the problem.
mike_elek
The click stops in an aperture ring are controlled by one or more small ball bearings. Generally, apeture indicators are moved by small sprung levers that work either in conjunction or separately from the rangefinder (differs between cameras). It's very possible that someone has removed the lens to service it, and then inexpertly reassembled it. Or it could be something else entirely. Did you buy the camera from a dealer? Or through online auction? Or a store?
mike_elek
The last sentence: I mean to ask if you bought from a dealer, online auction or a private sale?
richard_laepple
I bought it on eBay. Mike, I do not understand die influence of the aperture ring. Do you mean the distance ring? My first thought was the mechanism in the rangefinder unit needs service. I seems to me the camera stood at home too long without any movement of these parts. richard_laepple
It was a private deal.
richard_laepple
Sorry, sentence above: ... do not understand the (!) influence... (die=the in German only).
tom_harvey3
Richard, I also have a Fuji GS645S with the same type of rangefinder delay (if it's really cold the parallax compensation framelines won't move at all). It seems to be common with these cameras. But the 60mm lens has enough depth of focus that if you stick to f/11 or f/16 with the lens set to the hyperfocal distance for that aperture you'll have good focus in most of the frame. I don't use this camera much for closeup work so I can't offer a whole lot of info on that. The Fuji 60mm is one very tack-sharp lens at f/11 and f/16 though. l_a_k_h_i_n_d_e_r
I have seen the same problem. The frame lines were jerky in movement.
richard_laepple
Did you try to fix it by yourself? I would try it but I have not yet checked how to remove the top cover. Maybe someone has already done this? Does this require some special tools?
