rgeorge911
Hey, Just wanted to share my excitement of receiving my new LX2. I'm a long time Leica (among others) shooter. I really think I'm going to love this camera. All of the manual overrides are really nice. If I can learn to treat it as a real camera, and take my time, as opposed to shooting snapshots, I think it will be very useful. The small size and convenience does lead me to feel like it's a snapshot camera. However, I think it's capable of much more. Love the 16:9 format, too. prashanteju
that is quite good image. what about noise at iso80/100?
terry_rory
Post some more from this camera when you get a chance. I could be tempted. Especially by the Leica version. I have the Panasonic DMC-FX01 and is quite impressive for what it is.
rgeorge911
Another sample. I don't find the noise any problem at iso 100. Haven't really looked further. We've all read the reviews about noise and over-compensation in the camera. I decided all the other features were too close to pass up. Also, you can always shoot raw and use separate noise algorithms. I have never tried them, and won't unless I see a need.<div></div>
leicaglow
Hi Reed, Cool camera and pictures. From what you've seen so far from the LX2, does it have the potential to render that unique, sharp, Leica lens look to a digital image? It looks very promising though! Thanks for sharing. mr._smith
Reed, Can you tell if the LX2 can accept any type of filters ? What does the owners manual say? I was thinking of infrared. Maybe it can do infrared without filters, do you know?
rgeorge911
In answer to your questions: 1. That "Leica look" is the topic of much debate, especially on the Leica forum here. Almost as popular as "bokeh" debate. I won't touch that one, but will say that I am happy so far. I plan to use this camera for some street photography, which I usually use a M4-2 or IIIF (or potentially a number of other cameras, e.g. Canonet QL2, Olympus XA, etc.). Then I can see how similar condition results compare. I can pre-focus and manually set exposure, just like the other cameras. That should be cool. 2. I don't believe this lens accepts threaded filters. There may be the possibility of a slip-on filter, or I'm sure you could make an adapter. rgeorge911
Another thing I'd like is to be able to attach an accessory finder for 28mm. That would be cool. Don't know how to achieve it off-hand, but I may try some day.
pascal_veyradier
hi Reed, have your tried the Raw capture? Does it take long to save it to the card? and what Raw format it uses: DNG? What's the shutter response? quick enough to forget that it's not your M6 ?or M8 for that matter?! cheers,
kbg32
Pascal, Shutter response and writing raw files to card is slower then the LX1. I was very disappointed and now have a LX2 for sale. I will keep my LX1, which is faster, until it doesn't function anymore.
pascal_veyradier
thanks Keith. this is at a surprise... you're aware that the quality of the card plays a role in that... I'm gonna wait and try. cheers,
