lotsawa
You probably know this already. Anyway. Have fun,Christof

lester_wareham
I'm not sure how well optomised these are. For example the round hood for the EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM is nothing like as wide and long as the real Conon one.
neild
Yes, the "the real Conon" hoods are quite well-made ;-)
Gerry Whitmarsh
In the Netherlands the lens hood for the 100 mm 2.8 macro costs 62 euro from a cut-price store! The lens itself costs 490 euro. The hood must be of a very high quality.
will_webster
I just wish it had variants for use with crop factor bodies.
steve_dunn2
I had a look at those when they were first posted here, and some of them are clearly inferior to the Genuine Canon hoods. Look at the hoods for the 50/1.4, for instance; the round hood is substantially shallower than the official hood, and the petal-shaped one is somewhere in between.

If you absolutely cannot afford the official hood, then sure, use these; they're better than nothing. But the real hoods are going to do a better job of shading the lens, and a dramatically better job of physical protection.
