cabophoto
When I mount my Tamron Tamron 55-200/4-5.6 Di II LD (the lens reviewed by fellow PHOTO.NET user Bob Atkins here http://www.photo.net/equipment/tamron/55_200_Di/) on my D200 or my D70, the meter reading is consistently about one stop higher than with my other lenses. The difference is the same no matter if I use center-weighted, matrix or spot metering. Strangely enough, the aperture is displayed correctly (i.e. wide open the aperture changes when I zoom out). Has anyone had a similar experience ? What could be the reason ? Many thanks in advance Carsten http://www.cabophoto.com/
walterh
Carsten I posted a similar problem regarding the 12mm-24mm Sigma lens a while ago: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00AG59 If you scroll to the very bottom you find that images taken with the Sigma lens (two specimens tested) were about at least 1/2 f-stop underexposed compared to other lenses and in direct comparison to the 12mm-24mm Nikkor. Though 1/2 f-stop may seem little and can be compensated easily I prefered not to get this lens at that particular offer. I change lenses quite often and compensation for special lenses seemed not acceptable to me. Perhaps there is a fix now for that particular lens. I found Sigma support (here in Germany)excellent in updating my 70-200mm Sigma lens with a focus problem on the D200. You might contact Tamron directly. cabophoto
Walter, many thanks for the info. >>I change lenses quite often and compensation for special lenses seemed not acceptable to me. Same here. >>I found Sigma support (here in Germany)excellent in updating my 70-200mm Sigma lens with a focus problem on the D200. Yes, I had the same experience when I sent in my 30/1.4 Sigma. You're probably right, contacting Tamron would be the best way to find out what's going on. Carsten
