charlotte
I'm an artist whose work more and more has come to include photography - I'm in the middle of putting together a submission for the Irish Arts Council bursaries, and something that I really need to purchase is a professional quality printer - but I haven't got a clue! could someone suggest a high quality printer? preferably A3 or A4 size, and the cost of ink needs to be considered...Thank You, Charlotte Aberg www.charlotteaberg.com
eric friedemann
The Epson 2200 (model 2100 in Europe) is capable of making stunning prints up to 13x19 inches for $534 U.S. after rebate, plus shipping. A set of seven inks will run about $70 U.S., plus shipping: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/printers/Epson2200.shtml http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=254694&is=REG
jack paradise
What Eric said. Also if you need to print b&w, then consider QuadTone Rip for neutral black & white printing. Printing b&w with color inkset does not provide for neutral b&w unless a RIP is used. (RIP = Raster Image Processor) http://harrington.com/QuadToneRIP.html
marco_buonocore
Charlotte, I had a quick look at your web site - particularly liked "tremor", "it could be a wormhole" and "rubber". Great stuff. As far as printers go, does a consumer grade professional printer really suit you? I've found that the cheapest way I can do digital output is still at the lab. Once you've found one your happy with, and are all calibrated, it's quite a breeze. I use a lab here in Toronto (www.pikto.ca) and the prices are pretty much spot on. Surely there's an equivalent in Dublin? I'd suggest comparing the output quality of a consumer standard like the Epson 2200 with the output from a quality lab with a Frontier or DLab or whatever. Spend your bursary money on something else, like rent, or a gretag-macbeth eye-one to keep you calibrated. Good luck,
