nelson cotrim
When I use automatic focusing point selection and spot metering (spotlinked to active focusing point, not just the central point), were isthe spot metering taken? At all the active focus points (if more thanone acquire focus)? What if one of the non-spot focus point is theonly active one?
scott_ferris
Hi Nelson, If you are in auto focus point selection then the metered spot will be the center spot even if it does not achieve focus (you can't be in linked if you're in auto). Linking the spot meter to the focusing can only be done via custom function 13-1 or 13-3, in both of those you have to select the focus point. Hope this helps, Scott. peter_langfelder
Scott is essentially correct, although on my EOS 3 the custom function 13 can be set to 1 and auto selection of focus points can still be turned on. BTW, EOS 3 only has CF 13 settings 0,1, and 2.
scott_ferris
Hi Peter, My experiance is only with 1V, that does have 13-3 sorry for missleading anyone. The other point is the 1V can also be used in auto select when CF 13-1 or 13-3 are programmed, what I was trying to say was, if you are in auto select you are not in spot linked mode, spot linked mode only works in CF 13-1 and 13-3 for 1V and by the looks of it only 13-1 for the 3, and they only work when you manually select focus point. Take care, Scott.
