aron
My only question is about the new batteries. They are still bp511, but they mention that they are slightly changed and now called 511a's. Will my old bp 511's work?
beauh44
Hi Aron, I'm not sure about the old batteries, but the 20D can use AA's with the new grip. Best wishes . . .
jim_larson1
Yeah, I am sure the 6AA's would last a full 10-20 shots. Sounds like your old batteries will work. Assuming these $30 batteries influence your $1500 buying decisions. :)
peter_phan
The only difference with the new BP-511A batteries is that they have a higher capacity for longer life. The old BP-511 and new BP-511A are totally interchangeable in any cameras that take the 511-type battery.
aron
"Assuming these $30 batteries influence your $1500 buying decisions" Actually the Canon branded batteries are a bit more expensive and since I have two bodies minimum at each wedding I shoot, possibly having to replace the 8 bp511's I keep 'just in case' is a large factor for me. It can add up to a 3rd of the price of a camera making another 10D at $1250 at least a consideration, but those 8.2 mp's and the reduced noise could overcome that.
