robyn_geering1
I am currently in the market for a 20D, and want to buy a memory cardat the same time. Can anybody with experience in using the 20D let meknow of a good memory card for this camera - brand, speed etc.I am currently a student of photography, but hope to go professionalone day. Was thinking 1 to 2 gb.
vishwanath_nukal2
The following site summarizes tests ith various CF cards. http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007-7303
Spearhead
That site does have tests, but they really don't matter much for most shooting. Unless you are filling the buffer, the speed is irrelevant. Most major brands (Lexar, Sandisk, etc.) are fine. godfrey
I've stuck with 1G Sandisk Ultra II cards for the Canon 10D. They've worked flawlessly and certainly faster than the camera can take advantage of. However, they provide fast upload to the computer via a USB 2.0 or FireWire card reader. Unless you're doing sequence shooting enough of the time that you are constantly filling the buffer and having to wait, it shouldn't be any problem with most cards of this class. I don't know whether the 20D can take advantage of anything faster. Godfrey
akajohndoe
Lexar has rebates on most of their cards (4x, 40x, 80x) thoughout October in the USA. e.g.: 1G 80x with WA is 99.95 @ B&H and there's a $30 rebate, which calculates out to $69.95. jon_austin
Second the recommendation for Sandisk Ultra II 1GB.
Rob_L1664876404
The 20D is designed to take advantage of card write speeds. The buying decision, however, is based on how rapidly you expect to fire the shutter and whether you shoot JPEG or raw (raw recommende for quality at most ISO's). I use SanDisk cards (Ultra and Ultra II) in both my Digital Rebel and 20D and have had very good service. There is a little difference in the write speed between the Ultra and Ultra II in the 300D, but the difference is very noticeable on the 20D. For me, SanDisk is the best bang for the buck.
