robert_davis2
Pentax Canada wants more then I paid for the camera for a CLA so I'mwondering if somebody could suggest somebody else? Worse case I'lltake it to Pentax but it doesn't seem to make sense to spend more onthe CLA then I did on the camera.

robert_davis2
They did a Spot for me a few years ago. But had a bit of a problem with a lens. Nothing serious but it took a second trip back to have it fixed right.
james_lai
Hi Robert, I don't know that you can find anybody who doesn't slip up once in a while. I've had several cameras (35mm and medium format) serviced at Commercial Camera in the past few years and two Nikkormats did have to go back to them a second time, but they never gave me any b.s. and always stood behind their work. The only other repairperson (other than Pentax Canada) I've used is Raymond Fung at Winball Camera (416-221-9368), also in North York. He is a Nikon specialist, but works on other makes too. I've seen a few postings about Winball so he came highly rated, and I have to agree, after his service, my F2 was incredibly smooooooth! But, if you'll allow me a little rant, I had some issues with him too. His English is limited and his wife, who does the translating, does not seem to be knowledgable about cameras so I had some difficulty communicating with them. My mint (and I do mean MINT) baseplate came back covered with glue or some other goop stuck all over it, which he did clean up when I complained but he left it with a small scratch. Since I was making the trip over there, I also brought an Olympus wide angle lens for service -- it worked fine, but there was a tiny black spot inside that I wanted removed. He returned the lens with all the dust gone, but the black spot still there. The dust I didn't care about, the spot I did. Sorry I can't be of more help. I recall seeing a few postings for camera repair in Toronto so you might try searching the archives for more suggestions.
