k_michael
SO why won't my Firewire cable work with my PC? Anyone else havethis trouble? Fuji says my Camera is fine and HP says my computer is fine as well.
Ed_Ingold
Firewire must be powered, either at the PC or the camera. If this is a laptop, it does not provide Firewire power without a separate supply. In general, the camera is passive. Finally, there may be some option or switch incorrectly set on the camera. You may also have an operating system problem. WinXP works best by far in implementing Firewire. Win2000 is a close second. If you have 98v2 or ME, it's time to upgrade. This begs the question: why attach the camera to the computer? If you're downloading images, why not get a card reader? If you want to operate in a tethered mode, then continue with your troubleshooting.
wickedmartini
Do you have the S2 drivers loaded?
richard_burke1
Be sure you are using the AC adapter with the S2 camera. If you do not the firewire will not work with a laptop.
k_michael
I have done everything possible. I'm using XP, have the AC adapter installed and still nothing happens. HP'S support rep has asked Fuji for an S2 so they can do some work in the lab with my laptop. Kevin
k_michael
It turned out to be defects in both the S2 and the laptop. The laptop recognized 2 out of 4 components when tested through the IEEE 1394.The HP tech found this to be very strange. This was repeated multiple times to assure consistent results.Upon replacement of the motherboard, it recognized 4 out of 4 components. Again, the test was done multiple times. All 4 compnents worked consistently. The S2 had a problem with it's IEEE1394 port. The main board was replaced as well. Turns out the camera problem had to due with a defective original firewire cable that ws supplied with the camera.
