marcus_k.
I remember seeing in the photo.net forums awhile ago, a discussion about a year long shot of one specific spot in the sky with a single exposure taken about once a month of the sun. So at the end the photo showed the path of the sun as it moved throughout the year. I've done a bunch of searches and can't seem to find it here or on any other site. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any example of the photos?

richard_cochran
The figure the sun makes over a year is called an "analemma". A google search turns up a number of hits, including this one and this one. klix
So at the end the photo showed the path of the sun as it moved throughout the year. Not to be a smartass, but... you do mean the path of the earth as it revolved around the sun throughout the year, right?? marcus_k.
wait a minute, are you saying the EARTH rotates around the SUN!? Are you sure, that seems a little far fetched. Next thing I know you'll be saying the earth is not flat or something crazy. :) Thanks for the answers, analemma is exactly what I was looking for! greg s
"are you saying the EARTH rotates around the SUN!? " The earth orbits the sun, and rotates around its own axis. ;) BTW, good topic and I like the cool photos of the year long cycle.
